It looks terrible and if my memory is correct, Anton was a terrible piece of trash so I have no interest in this at all. I'm sure a lot of people will accusecme of begrudgery and tell me I should support Irish cinema but screw that.

Begrudge away. I OP'd so don't want to libel!

This guy was connected to the Irish film industry at one stage. Anton was 2nd worst film I've seen...

Between Charlie Casanova an this we may just have a film industry...

God, this film has been in production for years.

I've met Cantwell a number of times, and he's a perfectly friendly, enthusiastic fellow. Regrettably, based on everything I've seen from this and Anton, he'd struggle to convincingly direct a three-second static close-up of a cardboard box.

He is connected though...involved with Filmbase for a long long time...Think he may have burned some bridges though with IFTN going by the very strange reference to him as "MR Cantwell" in article...

PS Just another day directing on set:D

Jesus, could they not find a tripod that would lock? Every shot is just ever-so-slightly shaking. I know the golden rule of Film-Making 101 is not to end up with a film where every. shot. looks. so. static, but this is the other extreme. Not shaky enough to provide a dynamic handheld look, this is more like the cameraman was told to just "do his best" and hold it as steady as he could manage. I find it quite depressing that so much time, effort and (one must assume) some money was invested in this.
Six people associated with the film are attending the premiere? Safety in numbers, one must assume.

It was one the first, if not the first film to sell out at the Film Fleadh. Guaranteed that the audience will be made up solely of family and friends of the cast and crew and no matter how piss poor it is, there will be a five minute standing ovation. After which there will be a cringe worthy Q&A session where questions are as stimulating as "omg I loved it. Best film evah. How did you get such an amazing idea for a filum?" As people mingle outside after, the cast and crew will be told what a ground breaking and stimulating film it as and how it's the best of the year.

A few weeks later it'll get a token cinema release where it will sink without a trace and we won't hear from anyone involved for a few years before once again they return with another bland and mundane dullfest that friends and family will fall in love with while everyone else wonders how someone with so little visible talent can get funding.

90% of seats are still available off link on IFTN- just bought 2 in 4th row... Girlfriends's from galway etc...

Where do you find it sold-out?

Just a few people told me that How to Be Happy and The Callback Queen had sold out rather quickly. Can't be sure if it's true as I have no interest in either and in fact little interest in seeing anything at the Fleadh given that most screenings are in the IMC, which is a place I never go to. Don't think I've seen a film there without incident. Be that the sound going for periods of time, half the screen projected on the floor, etc.

Have just realised I've started a thread giving this thing publicity:o

I think it's going to be a comedy classic.;)

I don't care if I'm laughing with or at Catwell. It just better be funnier than Anton or charlie casanova!

PS Also we get to judge if directors should direct their partners in leading film roles...

Shame there's no IFTA for misguided, talentless, egotistical directors!

Have you seen the film? I haven't. It disappeared quite quickly from the cinema and didn't review very well so I avoided it.

Sadly no, but I have endured his other work. Looking forward to getting the DVD when it's exclusively released on region 4.
