Its not the fastest tablet out there, but would be a fantastic present to buy now and put aside for christmas or someones birthday.

I have a similar tablet to this from focal price, (there was a thread on it earlier in the year that was locked because it ran into a running commentary of people tracking their packages!)

These are great little tablets and you can upgrade the storage with a micro sd card (or TF card as they call them) of up to 32GB.

For €39 (listed at $49.99 US) it is a bargain price.

(just be aware that you maybe hit for customs and an post handling fee on this as it is coming from outside EU - last time on a €40 tablet i was hit for a fee of €15 in total) - but even at €55 it was worth it.

My own opinion of the tablet after having it for 6 months is that it is great for reading a book on, watching netflix, tv show or movie from the sd card, perfect for apps like angry birds etc and the wifi signal on it is great even a good bit away from our router.
It charges from its two prong wall charger, but it also charges via its micro usb port, so you could use a samsung phone charger to charge this or a plug in car charger if on the move with it.

Bad points: battery isnt great... standby for 6 days that i tested but once you play a movie or play a graphic demanding app it eats the power - you might get an hour and a half of a movie on it!
Speaker is very bad... if watching a movie you would be better off using headphones. The sound via headphones is loud and perfect. But still it is a great gadget besides these negatives.

Its on focal price - I have bought from them many times and no problems.
Standard delivery time is 3 to 4 weeks, but you can pay for express delivery which would have it to you within a week.

Big thread on it here for those interested.

Also these can be bought from Ali Express, GeekBuying and most Chinese websites in case anyone has any vouchers lying around.

As someone who has bought 4 for various family members, I would recommend spending a little extra and getting one with better battery life as gustafo said.

Id agree with you there... but saying that i get about and hour and a half of netflix or movie watching between charges.

Having a car charger and a couple of spare samsung micro usb chargers around the house helps!

On a side note I saw an instructable where someone mounted their 7 inch tablet on the flip down bracket/tablet holder attached to under their kitchen units so they could check recipes while cooking which was pretty cool.

I get approx 2 hours outta mine. It's for the daughter (3) and to be honest I don't let her use it for more than 30 mins at a go. Odd time she'll watch a full movie. Suits me perfectly, great little buy.

I.ve the same one at home I added an extra 1000mAh battery and nearly doubled the battery life. I've since upgraded it to 3000mAh from a broken tablet. I get over 4 hours now watching a film. I put pics up in the chinese tablet thread over in the gadgets forum. Great at the price. The original battery was crap

How would you go about changing the battery in them is it hard?

Any idea where i could buy a better battery?

The trouble with ordering one is making sure the battery will physically fit. I soldered some wi.re onto a mobile phone battery , Sony, I think and then soldered that directly onto the PCB contacts where the other battery was. So I ended up with two batteries. The original battery was supposed to be 2500mAh but was only 1400 .mAh. This was still working fine until I got the 3000mAh one. That was a tight squeeze. The original battery is quite narrow so you could ft another one the same in beside it. The hardest part is opening it up but these are quite simple to open. Just keep an eye on all the parts, buttons etc.

May try that this weekend... never thought of upping the juice with a second battery.

There was one user on the older thread that had photos of it opened up... think while he had it opened he replaced the speaker too.

These are a great little tablet, but the battery and speaker is a bit of a draw back.

Kids won't care though... the Nintendo ds is always plugged in charging in our house so another charger won't be in the way! :D

Check over in the tablet forum I think the thread is cheap Chinese tablets. I put up pics of the tab with two batteries in it. Never thought of changing the speaker.
I'm on my p phone so I can't stick up a link to it.
The battery stats might go a bit haywire. Mine was 0% today and was still working fine!

Would also recommend this tablet. I got one earlier in the year as a gift for my 6 yr old daughter. The battery life in this case is a blessing as its the only way I can get her and her younger brother off the bloody thing!

Brought it with us recently on holidays instead of having to lug around a portable DVD player - very handy.

I also ended up getting one of these covers from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Biz-E-Bee-UK-Luxury-Android-Protector/dp/B006SIR524/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1372976058&sr=8-8&keywords=android+cover which are mad spongy and perfect for her to carry it around in and thankfully after a couple of drops its still working.

Sorry this might be a silly question but can you get the Google Play Store on this?
I have a son with special needs and we have been told to get him a tablet to help his development with certain apps to suit his needs.
I don't want to spend a fortune on an ipad or the like just yet so something like this might be great to see how he likes it.

All the special needs/autism/language difficulty apps that you would get for the ipad from the app store (well 95% of them) will also be available for android from the google play store so happy days.

This would be a great little starter tablet, as if it drops or breaks from rough handling you are only a couple of quid out of pocket compared to if you had bought a €400 ipad.

The apps that you buy are linked to your gmail account too, so if you buy another tablet later on, you can redownload the apps to the new tablet without having to pay again which is handy.

On a side note though, if you have been asked to get a tablet to help with development/communication needs, Irish Autism Action have a scheme where if you collect old mobile phones (approx 165-200 depending on what you want with it like otterbox protection case/itunes voucher etc.) They will give you a brand new Ipad for your child. Your child doesn't have to have autism, it could be any form of disability. They make money from trading in the old phones with Swapkit Ireland and you get a new ipad for your child.

We collected for our nephew... it took a few months, but we managed it and he got an Ipad 2 with an otterbox case (this protects the ipad from drops and bangs) and he brings it in to school everyday to aid him in his communication and development. It has all the apps his resource teacher and SNA recommended. It may be something to look into... you could always put the word out to friends and family to dig out those old phones they have in drawers. See here for more info...
