about to sit down and watch The Van again, and was talking to a friend about those sort of *events* of a era or decade where its romanticized that pretty much the whole country was involved and have clear memories of (mine as a five year old during Italia 90 was watching my uncle in an irish jersey down on all fours barking at our dog while drunk off his head during the ireland/romania game)

But when trying to pick out a similar sort of event during the celtic tiger era I actually struggled, I dont know if it was just me, but there isnt a moment I can pick out and was wondering if any of you can help me.

Gerald Kean's Louis XVI-themed 50th birthday party really brought the country together. I still have my commemorative issue of Life magazine.

I think the Special Olympics can be remembered as the best of Ireland during all the madness. I still pass through towns with their host country to signs.

After the tiger, the last 5 minutes of reeling in the years 2009 is fairly bittersweet. To the soundtrack of sweet disposition, the economic carnage that was gaining pace followed by the Grand Slam win.

If we look at now and what reeling in the years will be showing for this decade. 2011 will begin or end with the Queen's speech in Dublin Castle. 2012 will end with Katie and one of the past few years will highlight the massive emigration out of Ireland.
