looks like thebookpeople.co.uk are delivering to Ireland again. Free postage over £25 and 10% off spend over £35 with code AFJULYG. Their collections are great value...

Just in case others have accounts with them - I had to create a new account in order to avoid the automatic application of a £7.45 delivery charge to Ireland. My old account also didn't give a discount when applying the code above.
Once I'd created a new account I got the free delivery and 10% off.

Does this mean you get them at the English prices? They are really good value, but it really gets to me the way the English prices are, in some cases, half the price again.

How? I created a new account and applied the code but didn't get any discount? I contacted the Book People and they told me the code was only valid for the UK?

Free delivery is only available to UK customers or am I missing something here?

Using a Northern Ireland address doesn't give the discount either. It's only mainland U.K. :(

I don't know anything about these people but I read lots of books and buy all mine from the Book Depository.co.uk.
All there prices are better then here and all deliveries are free. I have never had a book go astray with them!

I registered a few years ago on the UK site and only ever had an Irish delivery address. I tried the above code with that account and it failed plus I couldn't get free delivery.

So I registered under a new email address. I gave the Parcel Motel address as my initial address - this then recognised me as a UK customer. I then added an additional address for Dublin. Selected the books I wanted which totalled greater than £35 went to pay, selected Dublin address, got free delivery and applied the code for the discount.

Hope this works for some of ye.

I did same as Donnacha. Was using parcel motel to get uk prices for the last six months or so and noticed yesterday while i was using this 'uk address' (ie parcel motel) that I had the option of an ireland delivery. I added in my home address and all seems to be processing..
I get a lot of books from bookdepository.co.uk as well but there is great value on book collections with the bookpeople.

Which parcel motel address did you use? Is the UK one not a Northern Ireland address? It wouldn't accept an address in Newry for me and it won't recognise the parcel motel one either in Antrim?

It did accept the northern ireland one for me (McKinney Rd, Newtownabbey, co. antrim, BT364PE)...

Same for me, selected UK, then entered the antrim postcode and it then gave a list of address options one of which was parcelmotel 1a McKinney rd.

has any one gotten their delivery yet using the parcel motel/change of address trick??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,858 ✭✭✭CuppaCocoa

Still not working for me . Do you have to change the billing address also?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 pd40

I've got a fair few deliveries from them via parcel motel but this is the first time I was given the option of an irish address so I put my home address in to see what would happen. At the moment the status of the order is 'in progress'...
When I originally opened a new account using the parcel motel address I first deleted all the browser history and cookies from my computer. Then I gave parcel motel as my delivery address and gave my own address for billing but added in United Kingdom, BT36 4PE at the end. I got the deliveries no prob...
