Well was looking in the local gunshop (connolys, goresbridge, Kilkenny) and saw yildiz silver action and black action shotguns ,both new for €600....was wondering what's the difference between the black and silver models, have they ejectors and also has anyone used these models and what do they think? Thanks in advance:)

The only difference is one is black and the other is silver.

But the one thing they both have in common is that they are both ****e.

You would be better off buying a good second hand shotgun for €600 than buying a yildiz shotgun. They are made in turkey and most guns that are made in turkey are cheaply built and end up breaking after a while.

You'd get a new Silma u/o m/c ejector for €650, know of one bought for that last year, nice quality gun.

I have a Yildiz O/U and never had a problem with it. My mate has had 1 for years and he's the same. Before I bought it I had a Baikal that have me nothing but trouble. You can get a bad gun that gives trouble no matter what make it is.

It'll probably still be shooting anything you put up the spout by the time the Yildiz is long recycled into beer tins.

Lamber are an excellent mud range price gun .

SlimA if I right replaced lumar ! Someone correct me if I'm wrong please .

Out of all the guns listed lamber would be my choice but shop like hell around with all the guys going out of the country I wouldn't be surprised if u pic up a browning or beretta for about 7 / 8 hundred euro

Have a Yildiz since 2006, never had a problem with it. Lovely gun suited for game shooting and it was just the gun that fitted me when I picked it up. As far as I can remember I got it for 550 including a gun carrier, game bag and a few boxes of cartridges.

Lanber are a great, well built mid price range gun.......I had a Lanber O/U for 25 years with no bother whatsoever.

At the €650 price range, if it was me, I'd buy a second-hand Lanber or Bettinsoli.

If you could push your budget up another €300 then you would be in a different league altogether......you'd get a Browning / Miroku / Beretta etc. second hand, in very good nick, for that price.....a gun for life.

Some people don't like to buy second hand....they prefer new.....others buy second hand to get a better quality for reasonable price.

It's the old scenario......would you rather drive a new Lada or second-hand Merc????.............only you can decide.

I bought a 12g Baikal o/u about 26 years ago and to this day it has never once let me down, no its not pretty, it doesn't scream beauty and elegance and she's certainly not light and kicks like a mule but by god its a shooter.

I still take it out regularly. Its an all weather gun I don't mind dragging it up a mountain or through a bush in down pours. A dent in the stock every now and again annoys me but better her than any browning I own.

So don't mind the shot gun snobbery of some sunny days shooters who couldn't put more than 28g 7's through the barrel without falling over. Baikal's are mostly a great gun just avoid repeaters. Call it a budget knock around or your pride and joy all game/clays fall just the same.
