Here's the deal.... Bought a holiday home in Kilkee Co. Clare.

I won't pay for a phone line as not there year round. Will not get into any form of contract other than pay as you go , over wireless 3g

Problem is that there is no wireless 3g which shoots down my plans to use my ipad round the clock there!

So a plan for just reasonable internet access? Anyone got an idea how I could get 3g.... it's in the centre of Kilkee so I thought it would havbe 3g

Try in a high up location. Sometimes I only get 3G upstairs.

There is a map of all the masts on the Comreg site which might be able to indicate where they are and what networks offer 3G.

Meteor and O2 have 3G outside Kilkee there, looks like its mostly GSM masts in Kilkee. You may be able to pick something up. I know for certain that most towns in Clare have 3G. I had 3G the other day on O2 in Kilkee

    This might be helpful:

Right.... I appear to see the problem. Vodafone 3g mast too far away. An O2 mast is closer. I suppose I could get a O2 card for my ipad? Couldn't I?

OP don't forget any contract you pay for using 3G can be used anywhere in the country. If you are in an NBS area you you could get a booster from 3 (not ideal but sometimes of benefit) to use on site but there's nothing to stop you using the same NBS account anywhere in the country because its just 3 MBB. The service level agreements for the little they are worth is only any good at the NBS location.

Another potentially uesful thread Remote 3G Installation.
