Im aware you can not receive BTE and grant its one or the other but you can apply through the SUSI to have your fees payed if on BTE which is what i am doing.

I did a FETAC level 5 this year and was on BTE. i am doing a level 8 degree in September which i will be receiveing BTE again for. I have filled out the online grant aplication.

My question is for BTE applications on the grant are the fees automaticly awarded once they see are in receipt of BTE? Or is theree a chance it could be denied ?

i geuss im saying is it still means tested the same way a full grant application would be

    Yes its means tested

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I'm on BTEA and filled in for my fees to be paid this year by the grant...there wasnt a section to say I only wanted my fees covered though so I'm a little confused....I said I was in receipt of BTEA for first year so i'm hoping they'll just assume I only want fees paid for.

I think the BTEA is so much better then the maintenance part of the grant...its just so much easier and worry free

The form was like that last year too. There should have been a little tick box asking if you were/are getting BTEA and they should only offer you the fees. I think in some cases you can choose to pick the maintenance or BTEA, but like you I find BTEA better. Even though I ticked the BTEA last year they were giving me the maintenance grant. I'd to ring them up and get it sorted.
