Ok, Ive been looking for something like this for a while. Is there a site where you can go to see what films are good based on your own taste.

Flixster had an app on facebook called compatibility test which compared your ratings of films to your friends ratings so you know who was the best match hence if they liked a film then chances are that I would like it too. i dont think this app is still available.

Someone suggested Rottontomatoes site to me, i entered my ratings for lots of films and then used a 'Find My Critic' function. I found my best match but it was only based on 5 reviews it said so this is not much use.

Anyone know a better way to find films that people with similar tastes to you like?

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but jinni.com is working great for me. It's not so much based on critics (Unless you want it to be), but things like mood, genre, so on. Think of it like the IMDB recommendations thing only it actually works and is good, with a ton of variable options.

Thanks ill check this out, dont think its asking too much to have a site where you can go on and pick a movie to watch where there is a good chance that you will like it based on similar reviews. If not then I might look into creating my own site to do this :P

I think this is a flawed way to go about discovering new films. Film criticism isn't about taste or opinion, it's about evaluation. If you are going to read critical reviews of films then you should do so for the insight they contain. Sites like Rotten Tomatoes are destroying good film criticism.

I think you'd probably be better served by LetterboxD, a social networking site for cinephiles. Read reviews, read lists, make your own and follow people with similar interests to your own.

Thanks I'll check that LetterboxD out.

I watch [Discover] plenty of new films in cinema but when I am watching something at home I want to watch something that there is a good chance I will like.
