I applied for JSB on the 25th of May this year. I signed on the first day I applied which I didn't relise because I never signed on before. After I finally got the form processed last Tuesday the 25th of June they told me my next date to sign on was today the 3rd of July. When I went in I seen that I had already signed on, on the 25th of May.

In the meantime I received my social services card in the post. This was around the 14th of June.

The dole office haven't told me that my application has been successful or how much I will get paid. They said today that my next sign on date is the 31rst of July.

My question is am I receiving my JSB and have just yet to collect it? or do I still have to wait until they get back to me?
    What do I do?

Please take time to answer this as I'm in a bit of a pickle.

An answer would be greatly appreciated.

Did you tell them which Post office you wanted it paid into.
You should check ther to see if there is anything there for you.
If not you should get a payment from local CWO while your claim is being processed.

hmm that is confusing, i'm sorry but I think your only option is to go into the social welfare office and ask them what is happening, my jsb was all sorted within two weeks, good luck with it

On the form for applying for Jobseekers Benefit (here: http://www.welfare.ie/en/pdf/up1.pdf) you are asked, on the first page, to give details of the Post Office where you will receive your payment.

Thanks for that. The woman in the office filled it out for me and she must of assumed which post office to get it from. I remember clearly what she asked and she didn't ask me this.

So would you say I have money waiting to be collected?

As other posters advised, you should go to the Social Welfare Office to check what is happening about your claim. Even if the money had gone to the Post Office it would only remain there for a few days. If it was Jobseekers Allowance you were claiming, which is means-tested, there can be significant delays and you would normally need to go to the Community Welfare Officer for payments to tide you over till payment came through. The Jobseekers Benefit payments which are based on you having the relevant PRSI contributions from your work history are usually processed much quicker so best to check on the status of your claim.

No. When it is not collected within a few days of the given collection date the payment is returned to the Social Welfare Office and the person needs to go to the SW office to explain why they did not collect it. If their explanation is accepted the money will again be released to the Post Office within a few days.
