Being paid to do shopping seems to good to me, that and the fact I was involved in a scam that was a bit similiar to this. Should I email them anyway just to see what they offer?

Its mystery shopping its a massive industry. I have done it in the past it can pay pretty well I did one for the council in Edinburgh and got £50 for what turned out to be 2 hours work. Lots of larger retail companies here mystery shop their stores every single month and some more often than that so these companies always need fresh blood so that staff don't learn the mystery shoppers faces!

Tread carefully but on the face of it they are legit https://www.retail-maxim.co.uk/ . Note reference on this website to spam emails purporting to be from Retail Maxim. Give it a lash IMO. :)

Its not as easy as it sounds.

Currently about 800 stores are being mystery shopped for Retail Excellence Ireland as part of their annual awards. Most large retailers and some medium ones too will use mystery shoppers to test their staff ona regular basis.

The mystery shopper has to fit the profile of the store (75year old granny won't be mystery shopping a hollister shop) so that they are not obvious to the staff. That's good and means they need a wide range of people.

You then need to write a report on the store and understand what the person buying the report wants, the target market for the store, and what is expected of a store of its type.

An interest in retail is a plus, an interest in market is a plus, experience of writing reports is a plus.

If you do it well, it can be a very enjoyable and quite rewarding part time position.

The usual alarm bell for dodgy jobs is when you have to hand over money, in any way shape or form, to get/begin the job.

This could be a uniform, induction training, registration, tools, materials. Some craft type scam businesses sell you materials, you build the items, and they reject them all, your loss as you paid (a lot) for the materials.

In my teens I went to a hotel where some scamsters had rented a room and advertised jobs, calling them marketing or merchandising. I thought it was going to be handing out samples in a supermarket or something. They had kids going door to door selling black sacks. I don't think you had to buy them from them, but these were rolls worth about say €2, and you were supposed to sell for €5, and get say €1 profit on each one. So the guys were pocketing €2+ and using young people as they were probably more likely to be pitied and have auld grannies buying these off them. I walked out when I copped it but 2 or more girls were still there interested.

i have never seen any of the myster shopper companies to pay any more than 15 - 20 euro in ireland. Would cost that to get to the place

For the work i dont think its worth it, i got offered one for a sports shop i needed to buy a particular item and ask about other items and write this all in a report also a lot of memory involved.
I had to purchase an item and to be refunded for it i needed to send the receipt in or ask for a refund i think the price paid was about 7 euro.
