Car keeps cutting out when you slow down all power goes power steering etc and have to restart the engine it restarts every time. It also cut out twice the other day at about 80 the car was not slowing down then. Normally when the car is driving it is fine but when you have to slow down or stop it keeps cuting out. Any ideas what it might be ????

    Its a volvo s40 1.9 diesel 2002

    Thanks

Could be something simple like the throttle body sticking?

Not familiar with that engine but if you can get access to the throttle body, have a look and see if it's a bit gunged up with sticky residue? Give it a clean with something like some carb cleaner...

Im in Dundalk but do be in Dublin alot, I bought a cheap obd2 Bluetooth device and got a few apps for my phone to check for codes but the obd2 device does not seem to work.
I seen online that some of the cheap ones don't all work .

Not sure if i should buy an other one any pay a bit more as it would be handy to have.
Cant really wait till i an other one comes as the car has gotten very bad now it is grand once you get to the motor way and are drive at speed but when stopped or slowing down its a joke.
