cleaning a deck

    My parents have a deck that they want cleaned up and re-painted/varnished. Its the type that has grooves in it so if I sand it, how do i clean inside the grooves. would power washing strip the old paint/varnish off it or should I use chemicals, thanks

    Netrol to clean up
    Textrol to keep it looking good
