wanted: used hardtail mtb

looking to buy my first mtb for ballyhoura.been looking on dd but dunno what im looking for. i know it should have disc breaks,rock shox,29er wheels,hardtail,3 chain ring in front ideally.
what budget am i lookin at for a nice used hardtail on dd?
also if someone could reccomend a few off dd thatd be great.
might be lookin for 2 (one for a friend).
