How much could I sell this car for

02 Passat - did not pass NCT due to high emmissions

Nothing wrong with it otherwise, it runs fine

I don't intend on fixing it - just want to get rid of it

If I sell it for parts how much could I be looking at?

    Thanks in advance!

Need much more info before a price can be determined.

    Petrol or diesel?

    What spec?

    Milage?

    Any tax?

    Condition? Good pictures would help.

Probably not DIY maintenance or repair ;)

Thanks for the reply - I wasnt sure what forum this would best belong to.
And as I want to sell it for parts I thought maybe here I would find people that would suggest what they would be willing to pay in theory.

There is no tax on the car.
It is comfort line, 1.6 Petrol, I don't have pictures at the moment - consider it in mint condition - clean and no dents/scratches, navy

Mileage is relatively low, although I don't know it off hand (can check later)

I just don't want to put any money into fixing/taxing it as I will be buying a new car in the near future.
I'm trying to find out is it better to sell it or use for scrappage - what I will get more money for. The fact that there is no tax and it is not passing NCT is the only problem.

    Not a 1.6?

    €400 at most

It is this exact car if you would like to see photos (this is not my actual car)

Failing on emissions could be anything from just needing an additive plus a good blast down the road before the test to needing a new oxygen sensor or cat converter.

I don't mean to be rude but I did lol at this. If there were 50 11 year old cars in Ireland that were genuinely in mint condition (or what I would consider mint) I would be shocked! The fact that it just failed the NCT would also suggest otherwise!:P

I'm going to assume that you mean that it's in reasonable condition, I could be wrong though and it is very good:)
I would advertise it on DD for €500 with good photos and a honest description of the condition of the entire car not forgetting to mention what it failed the NCT on and what the actual NCT results are.

The word mint is so overused. Can we please have pics now for a laugh?

Id be inclined to get someone to tell you what is actually wrong with it and how much it would cost to repair first before throwing it up on DD for a couple of hundred quid. Would be a ridiculous waste of money if all it needed was a blast of Dipetane and an Italian tuneup.

You can ask what you want for it OP, but the reality is its only worth what someone will pay you for it, and to be honest, me as someone would only give you €200 for it, mint or not, as its got NO TEST as it stands......and may gobble up plenty of cash to get it thru' a test or not......

A friend of mine effortlessly got 500 for a 1.6 passat 01, a few months back. That car had an emissions fault too and the car as a whole was in good shape.
I would ask 550 but if it was mine I would get a diagnosis on it.
