Hi lads, just a quick question for any of you with experience of using these clubs. I'm getting back into the game after more or less giving up when I was around 16. 26 now and looking to invest in a decent set of irons to get me back into the game and came across the MD Superstrong Irons ST2(2012). Has anyone any info on these? Are they forgiving? Oversized? etc. Any suggestions regards alternatives is welcomed too.

Bit of background to help; As a junior golfer I played off around 0-4 over a couple of years (off junior tees :D ). After moving up to Senior at around 15 I was playing off 8-10 over the course of a year or 2, occasionally lower/higher. My swing is still there, nothing has changed in that regard but a lack of practice/play has meant my game is nowhere near what it was.

    Thanks in advance.

MD Golf make great golf clubs with usually high quality components. The model you've quoted are categorised as 'super-game improvement' which means they would be very forgiving, big offset to launch the ball high and have a large chunky appearance.

Given your previous experience and level of play I would suggest that you would be better off with a set in the game improvement category - smaller heads, less offset etc. There is great value to be had - either in the second hand market (adverts.ie etc.) or even new sets. I saw that McGuirks are selling the Nike VR Pro Cavity irons for 239 new - that's savage value for what are great performing clubs.

Other sets to consider are Titleist AP1, Mizuno JPX 800/825, Cleveleand CG16, Callaway Razr

    Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice. I feared they would be game improvers at the price. I have been keeping an eye on golf bidder.co.uk for sets. I'll see if the ones you mentioned are available. I'm a bit out of the loop equipment wise, have Nike improved as manufacturers? They were known as gimmicky when I played.

    Have the "Seve" 3 Wood.

Very happy with it. The fact that its an Irish company is all the better.

I've got the Superstrong ST2 Driver ordered. I'm a little bit odd in that I find the 460cc driver heads to be off putting when addressing the ball so I picked this up cheap to see how I get on. Currently using one of the old style Calloway Big Bertha Drivers.
