The four-piece Gorey-based alt.rock band S.I.L released their much-awaited debut album Red Horizon on iTunes on June 25, 2013.

The release of Red Horizon follows the highly positive response to S.I.L’s debut single ‘Broken Glass’, already released as a trailer for the album. The video for the song gained over 16,000 views in it's first month on You Tube. Determined not to fall into a predictable alt-rock routine, S.I.L have added strings to several tracks on Red Horizon. Consisting of 11 tracks that crisply clock in under 40 minutes, the album was recorded in Bay Studios in Wicklow and in a cottage in Tinahely, that was previously occupied by Delorentos.

All eleven songs on Red Horizon were written by S.I.L’s Damien Walsh and Diarmuid Comerford, and music industry insiders have already described it as remarkably mature for a debut album, and praised it for maintaining a cohesive musical feel from start to finish.

According to S.I.L’s guitarist Diarmuid Comerford, “We were able to make the album thanks to the €2,000 we raised through fundit.ie, so a big thank you to our loyal fans for their generous support.” As bassist Cupie explains, “We decided to give Red Horizon plenty of time to develop, so we spent from August 2012 to April of this year working with Producer Pete Meighan. He’s produced acts like Dave Couse, Hybrasil and the UK band North Atlantic Oscillation, so we all learned a lot from working with Pete.”
