How to prevent the dreaded 'Chub Rub'

Hey I wanted to take up running but have constant set backs due to the rub on my inner thighs. I no this is more common in women but I am a male and I would like to know how to prevent this so I can run comfortably. My legs aren't even chubby as they are an average size for my height and weight. I even have a friend who is a lot heavier then me and it doesn't seem to be a problem for him (unless he swallows the pain). It also seems to happen at the end of my boxer shorts and it is very painful. It also causes me to skip a day of running to let the leg heal.

so is there any advice out there to stop this from happening? It would be greatly appreciated.

    No problem, Lycra under-shorts.

The other option is to use vaseline (or similar stuff)

I used to get the same thing with the arms when wearing a singlet in Summer. Best thing is Bodyglide if you don't want to be wearing more layers. Get it in any cycling/running store.

+1, they're the business. well worth the money and if you keep an eye out you could get them cheaper in tk maxx.

Lycra undershorts or bodyglide is the way to go imho

+1 for Bodyglide. I always lube up with it before racing.

Might be worth looking at the length of your shorts. I get chafing on anything shorter than 5 inches, but am fine at that length. Measure them on inside seam.

Get cheap kinesiology tape on ebay and cut a section and put it on each place that you want. I use it if I forget to put body glide on after a long run. you can leave it on for a few days, shower with it etc. Its great stuff. I cut squares for the nips as mine bleed no matter what else I do. Bodyglide for prevention. kinesiology tape to cover it up and have it get better.

OP, same issue- lycra shorts or y fronts didnt help me.

Vaseline is the only thing that works for me.
