Hi there, rather that add to any existing threads I thought I might start a new one for this query!

Could those of you who have an Amiko Alien 2/2+ box tell me if Netflix plays without issue through the Spark Opera web browser? What about the TV3, RTE and 4oD web based players?

    Thanks all...

Netflix uses Silverlight which does not work on Linux (the Linux alternative does not work with Netflix) - the only workaround I am aware of is to use Wine which is a non runner on these boxes as they have different processors.
I was not aware of a method using Spark Opera.

there is an RTEplayer and TV3 plugin in the firmware thread - 4od will be geoblocked but there is a plugin for that available if you have a workaround.

Ah really, that's a real pity. A Nexflix plugin would be the ideal workaround, of course. Although I have also recently read that Netflix is dumping Silverlight in favour of HTML5, detailed here.

Is there a reason you think 4oD would be geoblocked here on this box? It does currently work fine through a web browser from here and I have also downloaded the 4oD app to view content on my Nexus 7 with no issues.

no reason - only tried it once, it failed, so assumed that it was geoblocked as BBC iplayer is.
    Ill try it again

Oh yeah, just found this, http://www.iheartubuntu.com/2012/11/ppa-for-netflix-desktop-app.html, which while not ideal may work for those wishing to watch Netflix on a Linux distribution.

Not too sure if this will have an impact on using Netflix with the Amiko Alien 2/2+ box but hopefully Netflix does go fully HTML5 soon and start to support Linux.

ITV Player, BBC Player and 4OD work in Enigma2 under the OnDemand Plugin. They use Tunelr in the code to bypass geoblocking.

Does this plugin work on the Alien 2?

As far as I know it has been ported over from the MIPS based version of E2.

I suggest you look in the main Amiko Alien 2 Tripple Tuner Combobox thread.

I have been following that thread but I don't think anyone got that working - correct me if I am wrong.
