Heading to the US next week and looking at getting me something nice...(Sold the IWC)

Any advice on buying and getting it home ?

Whereabouts are you heading to? Will you be purchasing while you are there?

Just stick it on your wrist, wear sleeves and post the empty box back to yourself as a gift.

I've dealt with a few places in Boston and NY that I could have recommended but don't know anybody in Philly. Are you looking for anything in particular? Might be handy to do your homework before you go and identify dealers who would have what you are looking for and start negotiations. You obviously will benefit from $$ pricing, exchange rate is not as good as it has been bet still represents additional discount and with a bit of haggling you should be able to get a very good deal on whatever takes your fancy! Best of luck and enjoy the hunt!

Continental in DC; ask for Jim. He's a favourite dealer on a number of forums and will ship to your hotel - generally saves on state/local tax.

No need really. Wear it on your wrist and put the box in the checked in bag. Keep the receipt separate. No way a watch on the wrist will draw any attention.

as long as you dont get stopped by customs in Dublin and they open your bag and find the box, highly unlikely

i'd be inclined to ship it back as mentioned already if you think there is a risk

If going to Philly, have you considered going across the state line to Delaware, this state has no state tax, so if the purchase price is high, the zero tax rate might make the journey worthwhile.
