Hi, looking for assistance - got a kid going into secondary school and trying to identify a suitable PC / netbook for them to use for schoolwork etc.

Not looking for anything terribly powerful but something with half-decent functionality, memory, etc. - budget around €300-€350

    Any ideas ?

they probably won't be allowed to do schoolwork on it. Have you talked to the school about that?

definitely stick with a netbook 11 inch or smaller for portability/lightness though.

Most netbooks are in that price range and decent enough..but weight a couple months as you might be able to get a bargain. there's new intel Haswell chips -they's are better for battery life ..but shops will be trying to sell the old chips first.
So if you want longer battery wait a while. If that doesn't matter, then just wait a month or so for better bargains..

11.6 inch screen is perfect imo.

Something like this would tick a lot of boxes.
