    Hey

Two of my fog lights is fogging up and the other one has a white tint building up, I presume its due to bad sealing. Was just wondering what type of sealant can you use if I was open them up, clean then from the inside and close them back up?

Or am I better off getting new fog lights for my little i30?

Depends on if the old seals are giving up or if there is small cracks.
Take them off, open up and inspect. Silicone sealer is what I'd use but butyl tape is supposed to be very good.
Are they screwed together or will you use a heatgun?

I took them apart a month ago on my little DRL project. Seems as using the same seal didn't cut it. Its held together with glue, I used a heat gun to open them. No cracks as far as I have seen anyway

Btw, this doesn't fall under Detailing so I changed the prefix for your thread.

It doesn't seem to be, there is a cap covering the hole though, but I left that as it is.

Got one of the headlights out and polished the stains out of it as well as I could.

Ordered some 3M ribbon sealant. Couple of Googled threads brings it up as a fairly good solution to my problem. Drove around all the motor factors and only one had stuff for sealing headlights, some sort of white silicone tube.

The rest had nothing :( anyway have to wait a while before the stuff arrives.

Bring on 1-2 weeks or driving with fog light holes in the bumper :)

You could always do what I did when painting mine yellow. Heat gun, pry lens off. Clean up on both sides. Seal with automotive bond. Sorted

Any particular one? I didn't want to seal it with something permanent in case it was still fogging up after the repair.

Then again if it does fog up again after I'll just probably get new ones or another second hand pair.

I went a bit ott and used windscreen bond :pac:

A good silicone tube should do the job though :)

Yeah that's what I had ordered online. Though I cancelled it, gonna look for it in a store. Takes too long to deliver that stuff.

Took apart the other head light and noticed that the little cap for the breather hole is missing. Any idea what can I replace it with?

What exactly does it look like?

Its a little cap that covers the hole. The cap itself has some rubber inside with holes. Might take it out tomorrow and take a picture.

As far as I seen it today one of them with a cap is OK. The one without it, fogged a tiny bit.
