We are arriving in August for 2 weeks of bliss--golf. Outside of practical reasons-rain, cold, wind- is it okay to wear shorts on the course? When we played in Scotland a few years back we had to buy long socks to play on he course. Thanks for an advice

Have seen people wear them on courses around me. With normal socks.

Any golfers I've seen wearing shorts would normally have short socks on. Not overly common here for obvious reasons but can't see why there'd be any problem tbh.

Local rules generally state "tailored shorts" to be worn. Should be no issue though and I admire your optimism when it comes to our weather!!

No problems wherever I've played. As long as they're smart golf shorts you should be fine.

    An aside.
Got to the course on Sunday, fully kitted out in the rain gear.
On arrival, my partner and mate was in shorts and t-shirt.
He started the abuse, I just prayed for the rain to come... :)

All I can say is be prepared for 2 weeks of glorious weather the last 2 weeks of August. We are bringing the sun with us from Hawaii.

I remember Michael Jordan was banned from a club for wearing shorts a couple of years ago in the states.

you should be ok though. :D

Hope the weather is kind !!

Brother in law of mine plays golf in Jersey CI. In the club there the first lad to be seen wearing long trousers after the summer(as opposed to normal shorts) has to stand a round in the clubhouse.
He says the nads have been frozen off him more times but refuses to relent in the quest for free beer(and keeping his man-card):D

    nothing worst ..

in the winter I wear two pairs of boxers/undies ..
I still sometimes go for a leak after a cold round of golf to get the shock of my life when I have to try and find it

    :o
