Alienware Delay with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780

Hi,

Anyone know why AW are so slow to implement the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 in their new systems. Seems Haswell hasn't made an appearance yet either. I'm presuming a new tower is in line as they replaced their other smaller tower recently.

Any one have any idea on an expected date / rumour / reason?

Intel hasn't released Haswell laptop chips yet. nVidia haven't released 780 mobile chips yet. This is pretty standard, both the CPU and GPU have only been released to desktop in the past few weeks.

Alienware also do desktop pcs,think the op may have meant that.
Think one is called the Aurora,was looking at them awhile ago when i was deciding to build or buy.....glad i built my own:)

Strange question for a building & upgrading section as no one in there right mind in here would think about buying them silly overpriced delienware pc's. At least when they where not part of dell they had decent build quality so they could bull**** about how the quality is worth it now they are just the cheapest oem kit to maximise profits.

I guess it's because they can still make so much money selling their gtx 680 systems. Lets face it, their components are sub par and prices outragous.
People don't buy alienware for the components but just for the marketing name.
The systems are not aimed at people who are tech savvy. It's aim at people who think that by spending lots on a brand name they are getting the best product.

Seriosly OP unless you like gaudy, poor quality, low specced, overpriced computers that take months to be delivered you dont buy an alienware desktop. Unless you recently has severe brain trauma, then it makes sense.

You've got that completely backwards. Before the Dell merger Alienware products were terribad. Cheap plasticy things that overheated like nobody's business. You thank the Macbook Air is bad? Pfft.

My M17x (the first laptop released by Dell) was an absolutely fantastic machine, by far the most solid, well built laptop I've ever owned. I got it amazingly cheap too. €1,350 vs. the €1,800 it would have cost.

Their desktops are horrendously over-priced, mediocre machines however.

I was talking to one of there reps on the alien ware website and they told me they due on the 18tb of june in ireland,4th gen processors and the 700 series graphics cards.

I was talking about there desktops quality wise. Either way though they are overpriced gastly looking piles of ****e. They remind me of what chavs/skangers do when they get hold of 1litre polos/corsas/puntos
