Looking for a place that can program a key for an 08 passat, went into autokeys on the long mile road and they wanted 260 for the key. So was considering getting a key online and getting someone else to program it for me if possible at a decent price

Your prob best off buying a key from somewhere that can programme it too. Some keys require special programming devices and finding one may not be that simple. Also I'm not sure if you can reprogramme the VW keys so buying a used one to reprogramme might not be an option either.

Have you tried KC systems in watergrasshill cork? He sells and repairs most types of car key and has the ability to programme them too.

I was only going to buy a New key,

But I would prefer somewhere closer to Dublin, but I will still give them a ring and see how much. Thanks

Its possible in most VAG cars for the car itself to be able to program the key. I've seen it done with an eBay key. You basically follow a sequence (Sounds stupid) like key in, open driver door, close driver door with boot open etc. And the key will be programmed by the car itself.

You may need to Google a good bit but you could save yourself a small fortune.

Do you have a key that starts the car at the moment?

I can programme VW keys but need a 4 digit code off the old key to log into a control module.

Otherwise this code can be obtained from a main dealer
