    Hi

I have officially to give 3 months notice based on my contract of employment that I signed. Do I really have to work the full notice period by law?

There's a thread on this a week, use the search function for many, many good threads.

In short yes a contract is a contract, subject to certain unfair terms provisions - I've no comment on whether 3 months falls foul of that, it would likely depend or may not apply at all.

OTOH - are the company likely to sue you for breach of contract, will it effect your reference and do you stand to lose your new, and presumably better, job if you don't jump ship before the three months is up?
