    Hi everyone,
My better half is looking to get a full-time job as a visual merchnadiser.

What are the best websites for applying for fashion retail or visual merchandising jobs?

She is qualified and has 6 years experience so it's time for her to get the job she really wants :)

All replies are very welcome :)

    FG

    Hey FutureGuy,

The Dunnes visual merchandising training course is supposed to be excellent. Friend of mine did it and is now head of visuals for Debenhams.

Or else if your girlfriend just keeps looking out for any roles. I'd say unfortunately a lot of places have cut this role, giving the duties to sales assistants, so maybe if she even offered to do some visual merchandising within her current role (if she hasn't already).

A lot of my friends have done it as part of their sales assistant role. They would have done fashion, art or design in college.

    Hope it works out! :)

    Hi there,
She has a distinction from portobello and is doing V.M about 60% of the time in her current role (and does alot virtual stuff for other stores in her chain).

That's fantastic about your friend! My gf is actively trying to get the contact names of the VM teams in different stores and Dunnes is one of them :)

Yes, many stores give the duties to regular staff, but you can immediately see the difference a good VM can make to the store. The stores she has worked in have experienced massive sales boosts whenever she gets her hands on a collection :) She lives and breathes it!

Thanks for the advice again! :)

No probs! The Dunnes Stores VM course is probably too basic for her so - and wouldn't pay well. Think it's an apprenticeship kinda thing.

Debenhams (if there's one near her) might be a good place to try. As well as my friend who's senior in visuals, I know two other people in there who work as full-time VMs.
Top Shop is another place that hires VMs. The bigger shops anyway.

She should keep an eye on www.excelrecruitment.com - they have a Fashion jobs section - my SIL got a VM job through them ... worth a shot anyway!

Where do you find more info about the Dunnes course? Thinking of recommending it to a friend who has developed an interest in her current job.

Oh great, we hadn't heard about that website! Not a whole lot there for VMs right now but it's another place to keep an eye on!
