Only back online this morning, had to dash after the race to catch my flight! So what did everyone think of the race? Great battles at the end but the tyre situation made for a farce at times in the race...

8 for me, be it the whole "Who's tyre is gonna go next?!, or Vettels car failing thus reopening the championship somewhat, or Webber chasing down Rosberg...really enjoyed the race.

5 tires and safety cars ruined what could have been a great race

Pity it took exploding tyres to finally inject some excitement into the year but I'll take it. Great finish too, master class from webber, alonso and hamilton.

Exactly, don't want to see that happening again. It did inject a lot of drama. The reaction from the crowd when Vettel pulled up was very interesting. Do you think that people share that opinion now, or was it just that set of fans?

I remember when Vettel was booed on the podium in Canada people saying that wouldn't happen in Slverstone, judging by the crowds reaction to him going out I wouldn't be so sure.

I really find that boo'ing distasteful, regardless of who its directed at or what spirit its in. Boo'ing is fine & part and parcel of a lot of sports, & it's taken in that way. But when I hear it at a podium celebration, it just sounds awful, there should always be a mark of respect for the drivers after a race.

I didn't hear any boo-ing at Vettel in Silverstone? What I heard was a whole crowd of people cheering loudly, presumably at the chance they might see an unexpected result and an exciting finish, after what was a pretty farcical display of tyre failure and saftey cars.

Then again, I wasn't actually there, so it might have been different in person?

No I'd say that pretty much sums it up, a huge cheer could be heard when he pulled over. I know I certainly cheered :D I think the boo'ing though he encountered last time out was bad form.

The amount of laps lost by the safety car staying out was a farce

Which amounts to the same thing as boo-ing when he wins. Brundle mentioned maybe it was for the Webber overtake in Malaysia.

Was an exciting race but for the wrong reasons. We were denied a potential decent scrap between Hamilton and Vettel at least.

Ah I don't see it that way, I think once the race is done then its done, & all the podium drivers should be respected. When the race is one though, boo'ing & hissing is fair game :D

The crazy tire situation obviously had a big impact and while I don't wan't it to happen again, it did happen, and was captivating to watch at times. I never remember being bored so 9/10 for me.

Solid 8 race had plenty going on. Alonso is a genius avoiding Perez after his blow out and getting a podium with a bad mannerd car

    Cheering equals booing?

I can't agree that it does. I have tons of respect for a driver of Vettels' achievement and skill, however, I do tire of that finger pointing to the sky and the pattern of seeing him out front, unchallanged, race after race.

Perhaps, he didn't win over many new fans that day, if only Webber had known of his intention to overtake him and take away his well deserved win, he could have raced against him for it.

It's clear that the merc has the pace to match, I don't think we'll be waiting too long for that showdown!

I should have made myself more clear. What I meant was, cheering at someone's misfortune is the same as boo-ing their fortune imo. Sure we all have drivers/teams we like and dislike but that cheering from the crowd wasn't on. Same as booing him on the podium previously.

The FIA did their best to rein back in RB with rule changes so it's really other teams that need to pull the finger out and provide a sterner challenge (seems strange to say that as they haven't exactly been romping away like in 2011).

But as you mention, it looks like Merc have made decent gains so hopefully we'll see some good close fights between the two. Would be nice if Ferrari made some improvements too. :)

The crowd cheered when Vettel pulled off - the length of the safety car appears to have been down in part to the FIA waiting for updates from Pirelli - there had been 4 failures by the time of the first safety car - Alonso's was about to blow but he made it to the pits - Massa's blew the following lap.

Hard to give the race more then 6 - was entertaining but 7 tyre failures and a very lucky Nico Rosberg - is not a great race.

They should just stop having spectators at the races in case some bad eggs get in and offend TV viewers' sensibilities.

Gave it a 7, lots of action but a few to many laps behind the safety car which may have deprived us of 2 big battles at the front at the end.
As for the fans cheering vettel going out it was kind of a given after their home driver retired while leading the race and it being like a 2nd home race for webber.
Booing him after winning the race in Canada was pretty sh1ty though.

Had plenty of drama for me. I know the trye issue hampered some good racing, but at least there wasn't a bore-fest.
