    Maynooth is 147.9 for diesel.
I can get diesel in Clondalkin Texaco for 142.9 or Applegreen/Esso/Maxol in Palmerstown for 143.8
So- its about 4c a litre more expensive that elsewhere locally- but with the 5c a litre off- its the cheapest- and a 10c a litre off- well, its far and away the cheapest.

Looks like they put up their prices 1c a litre yesterday by the way.

Dundrum is 154.9 for petrol and 145.9 for diesel at the moment.
10 cent off that doesn't sound too bad been a long time since paid under 1.50 for petrol

Wonder why all their stations seem to have different prices? Price matching with the local garages I guess. You only get .5 of a Tesco clubcard point- not 1 point, per Euro spent- so there is no compelling reason to use their garage (the only benefit I can see to use their garage is the lovely digital tyre guage for checking your tyres- which is a bit of a piss-poor reason for buying their fuel.

I have found their fuel to be very bad quality compared with the local maxol etc where I live. The car is never happy with the diesel from there, so we gave up buying it. I'd tell anyone to be mindful when buying there.

Quality- esp. on fresh produce remarkably good- and they now carry a lot of the regular brandname goods too (where once they only had their own versions). No hesitation in recommending grocery shopping there. Lidl have a massive positive over Aldi- and thats each of its stores has a fresh bakery.

Its the very same petrol, it comes from the same oil rig, same ship, same tanks.
Im fairly sure Statoil supply Tesco . Some suppliers add different things to improve the fuel. Maybe this is what's not agreeing with your car. Was the car pinking?

Yes- add in fuel mix to the tank when you fill up there- though it takes the goodness out of the 5c a litre or so discount you're getting.

Yep. I do most of my shopping in Lidl. Their fruit and veg is the best in market. Their fresh bread, which I don't usually eat, is top quality. I don't find their dairy products any way inferior. Then I buy my meat from several local butchers.

Added to the fact that my car, for whatever reason, doesn't take to Tescos diesel. I find by paying a bit more for Texaco fuel, I get better mpg too

Naw. Its fairly bad with regard prepack cooked meat and frozen. Its tastes cheap and nasty compared to branded foods. The Pizza's have a strange mass produced chemical taste. The chicken is very bad and the beef is hard to get through. Went to lidl for a good while as it was close. Then got sick of the place.
The ease of finding a car parking space speaks volumes . The Aldi beside the Extra store in Naas looks like its on the brink of failure . Its always empty and the wait at the tills makes a bad situation worse.
A few things like thier brand ice pops and the veg is quite nice though. I also like the fresh breads. But. You get all that in an Extra store.

Sorry no the car doesn't act up per say, but the mpg is way down and it loses a noticeable amount of power. This is diesel, I have no experience with the petrol available.

For those of you in Sligo.

Sligo Fuels in Deepwater quay are accepting those vouchers.

Go shop there at the weekends and see if you have the same opinion. I go to the other Aldi in Naas when I can as its less busy than the one in Monread.

Agreed though about complete lack of courtesy given to customers queuing.

On saying all that - this has little to do with tesco selling diesel

All fuel is the same - its like buying kellogs cornflakes in different supermarkets.
Some do add in additives at point of delivery, but they really make feck all difference.

Statoil are the current supplier - it used to be Esso

Weather can make a difference, perception can make a difference, driving styles can make a difference.

As for Tesco fuels - sorry, but they are the dearest on average and 1.53 for diesel in Killarney. Its 10c cheaper in Newcastlewest and in Tralee and even 5c cheaper in small towns just outside Killarney.

    just a small example :

Tesco Clearwaters (Finglas) diesel price: 1.53 eur/L
Esso Navan Road (6 ct difference) diesel price: 1.47 eur/L

or even better (10 ct difference):
Esso on N4 or Maxol (Phibsboro): 1.43 eur/L

How can you say all fuel is the same when 1 in 6 litres of diesel in Ireland has been laundered!
My mechanic says Statoil is the only diesel that is filtered twice. He wouldnt touch any other diesel regardless of price.
He bought diesel from 5 local garages and put them in pint glasses to test them... All cloudy and murky except Statoil.

Went to Clearwater on Saturday evening for diesel. Tesco ware charging 153.9 per liter. Bought some the next morning in another garage for 143.9. Will not be going back to Tesco again.

This time there's other petrol stations participating, besides Tesco Petrol. They might be worth checking if their prices are good:
    Other participating petrol stations

Downey's Texaco Dublin Road, Portlaoise, Co. Laoise
    Great Gas Turner's Cross, Cork
Kennedy's Topaz Dublin Road, Carrick on Shannon
    Mulrooney's Texaco Brooklands, Nenagh
    Mulrooney's Texaco Dublin Road, Roscrea
    Sligo Fuels Deepwater Quay, Sligo
Sweeney Oil Claregalway Road, Oranmore, Galway
    Sweeney Oil Headford Road, Galway
Sweeney's Top Oil Ramelton Road, Letterkenny

Plenty os pertol stations charging 10cents less than Tesco so not really a deal.

Although I think its not right.
I think Tesco charge the same prices as the other stations within a 5km radius.

I read that somewhere recently. I cant provide a link.

So if you get cheaper fuel 10 mile down the road . well Happy days.

    5km radius?
    Bull.
Look at Maynooth- their flagship station.
Its the most expensive filling station in I reckon a 20km radius (not by much- probably 2-3c a litre more expensive than the local ones- and if you go outside the immediate locality (e.g. towards Celbridge)- they're 7-8c a litre more expensive than stations over that direction (and believe you me- they're not particularly cheap either). The local Applegreen is 4c a litre more expensive than the Palmerstown Applegreen (and its other local stations).

What really makes me laugh sometimes- is Maynooth is regularly considerably more expensive than their Dundrum filling station- which god only knows what its benchmarked against- because the other garages over there are up there with being the most expensive in the country.

    Just doesn't stack up.

The Great Gas used to be as cheap as the filling station at the Lee Garage on the Model Farm Road here in Cork.

But I have noticed lately that since they started doing the fuel vouchers for Tesco that they are now over 5 cent per litre more expensive.

Not much if any savings to be had there at all now.

Pumps .ie have not updated for this week yet.
Name Road Area County Petrol Diesel
    Esso Straffan Road Maynooth Kildare
    154.9c 28th Jun
    146.9c 21st Jun
    Maxol Straffan Road Maynooth Kildare

    145.9c 21st Jun
    Tesco Leixlip Road Maynooth Kildare
    155.9c 29th Jun
    147.9c 29th Jun

    Its 1c a liter not 2-3.

With 10c off a litre they are by far the cheapest in Maynooth. I cant think of another within 5km. Applegreen Celbridge is further than 5km and is 1.55.8 a litre.

Palmerstown is 1.53 according to pumps.ie.

It's a pity the petrol stations don't update their own prices on Pumps.ie, I think some do. It's maybe not in their interest to increase price competition.

Ok- its a penny more than Esso and tuppence more than Maxol.......?
Also- I filled up at Maxol Palmerstown on the way out of town at 143.8 (same price as the Applegreen across the road- apparently its gone up 2c or so in the past week).

TOP Celbridge is closed until September- and the other stations aren't trying to compete with it anymore (while its closed anyway). The Applegreen there- isn't competitive- when compared to other Applegreens.

Anyhow- we're arguing over pennies here.

We are im afraid. I think its a good deal. If you are close to Tesco petrol stations though. 10 cent saving will buy you breakfast with the saving on a full tank. Plus your clubcard points.
How could ya not like a free breakfast?
