    Hi,

The inlaws are having an issue with the car.

The diesel guage is dropping to a point saying there is no diesel in the car when the fuel tank is 3/4 full, it will then say engine malfunction and then shut down completely! The dealer seems to think its a problem with the oil filter or thry will look at replacing the computer but they replaced it and it was serviced only a month ago!

Its a serious issue and I am just wondering has anyone come across it before? Its happening intermittently so is it a sensor in the fuel tank or the computer? The diesel tank is not leaking either!

Are you saying the gauge is dropping to zero while the tank is actually 3/4 full?

If so then it sounds like a problem with the fuel level sender in the fuel tank.

Yes, but I dont know why its shutting off the engine completly and today we turned it off and started again and it was fine - its very intermittent!

I'd imagine it'd shut the engine off it thought the tank was almost empty?
