    Hello,

I am on DA and will be starting a job in August, The thing is I will be cancelling it because I will be over the hours and money amount set out for it which is ok but I am just wondering when do I cancel my DA because I get paid monthly and for that month (the month of August) if I don't have my DA I will be without income and become broke.

If i can cancel it just before payment that would be great but if not then I must cancel it when starting which is leaving me a month without income

Any help or information would be great

    Thanks

You should query that with your local welfare office. Have you no savings? TBH you are in the same boat as anyone else that starts a full-time job. By the way, you are entitled to hold on to your medical card for 3yrs after going into employment. You should tell your employer that you have a medical card, as this eill mean you will only pay a reduced rate of PRSI. Best of luck with the job.

You will have to inform DA section as soon as you start your job. Your community welfare officer may be in a position to help you out to fill the gap if you explain the situation to them. Any money received from them may have to be repaid.

I think 120 euro a week is the limit if in receipt of disability allowance but if you be earning more than that a week you might be cut off but you need to get in contact with your local sw office to get info but to be honest you need to inform them or send a letter to social welfare about the job so you know your entitlements. You could get a nasty letter if you dont let them know about the job though.

It happened to me. I wasnt even working at the time and got a letter saying i was working for 8 weeks and had to prove i wasnt. I was doing fresher buddy thing in college but got paid in double instead of seperate payment for orientation week and open day. I had to send a letter stating i wasnt working.

When i got a paid workplacement for few months i had to send a letter informing sw but they were fine with it. They cut me off for the few months i were working as earning more than 120euro a week. I was put back on sw since my placement finished 4 yrs ago. Best of luck.
