Need some help with the tv star t1030 hd usb pvr

Just bought the tv star t1030 at xtra-vision. I see tutorials on youtube showing how easy it is to recieve channels on it but for the life of me I can't get it to find a single channel. I have an aerial attached but when I get it to search I find nothing. Can I even view channels without paying one of those companys like…

What kind of aerial have you connected? Indoor 'set-top' types aren't recommended.

What part of the country are you in?

It's an outdoor roof aerial and im living close to mullingar. Never used the aerial before though so I can only assume it works.

See if you can trace the cable route from receiver to aerial: look for breaks, disconnections, bad connections or somewhere a part for distribution (splitter, amplifier, power supply) might be missing.
