Heat Recovery Ventilation DIY advice

Has anyone installed a Heat Recovery Ventilation system themselves buying the bits and pieces separately avoiding the overpriced costs of going through an official installer. I got a quote of €3500.00 for a 100 sqm bungalow which seems a lot of money. There are HRV units on Ebay for around £500.00 so I'm thinking it shouldn't cost more that €1500.00 for everything. Any advice appreciated.

when your finished fitting your system. advice on location. ill recommend someone who will repair , what you fixed.

you pay for experience/training and a quality service. otherwise guaranteed to cost you more money in the long run. you have been adviced.

hope this helps! these systems can also cause carbon monoxide problems if not fitted correctly. you have been warned.

I KNOW THIS IS A DIY FORUM. BUT ANY APPLIANCE THAT CAN CREATE CO ISSUES. SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN ON AS A DIY PROJECT.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you're saying. Are you saying I can fit the system myself but get an expert in to commission it. What do you mean by "ill recommend someone who will repair , what you fixed" That makes no sense to me I'm afraid.

it doesnt make sense now. when your finished it will. talk again on completion.

system needs to be designed properly. not just commisioned. lots of factors to be taken into account. but then again. thats where training/experience comes into it.

What do you mean by "ill recommend someone who will repair , what you fixed" = i get a lot of calls from customers. the wife usually says my husband fixed that. I usually say thats why i am here to repair it.

You're making presumptions. You have no idea what my skills and capabilities are. I totally accept that the system needs to be properly designed by a professional, that's obvious. That's the least of my worries. It's getting all the bits together at a good price. I'm not paying €3500 PLUS VAT @13.5% for a system that actually costs say €1500 when it takes a couple of days to fit.

well I know my capabilities and additional costs involved been a company.I also know the implications of a badly fitted/designed system. do you know what needs to be done that does not involve the unit?

Id say go for it. you probably know more than me.;)
