I know this is a bit early folks, but im tied up with Junior Tour this week and wanted to get details out there.
The Brendan Campbell Mem Races will take place in Donore Village on Sun July 28th.This is the 17th edition and once again will be sponsored by 'Coca Cola International Services''The events will all be on the usual 6.4km circuit and I promise there will be no muck/combines etc this year.As per last year I have decided to run a separate A4 only race and there will also be a separate womans race which is the final round of their Nat League series.Anybody who doesn't know where we are,Donore is 3 minutes from J9 from the M1 Motorway and about 5km from Drogheda.

    Schedule of events
    12.oo midday A4 race 8 x laps 51.2km
    12.02 U16 race 6 x laps 38.4km
    12.04 U14 race 3 x laps 19.2km
    12.06 U12 race 1 x lap 6.4km

    2.00pm A+/A1/A2/A3/Jun Handicap race 13 x laps 83.2km
    2.03pm Womans race 7 x laps 45km
There will be category prizes in the main race for U/P A2s A3's and Juns.
Not quite sure yet if ythe sign on will be in the school or parish hall due to construction work but are only 100 mtrs apart.More info to come as it unfolds. Thanks Folks.

6 laps of that circuit is bad enough. I can only imagine how much agony fun 13 laps will be!!

You dont look on it as 13 laps. You say hey this race is only 83km.There,you have a different outlook on it already.Hope you got on on your A3 debut earlier...

Sign on is now confirmed for the parish hall beside the Church.
As the normal parking facilities behind the school are out of bounds due to construction work, parking will be tight. Please dont even think about parking on the finishing road in the village.Cemetery car park, car parks both behind and in front of shop area will be available together with more areas that will be signed on the day.
Sign on opens at 10.30 for the A4 and Youth events at 12 noon and will remain open until 1.45 for the main event and womans race at 2pm.
    Cheers Wav

Did it last year. Good standard of riding all round. Some nice lumps. Probably be there this weekend.

Finish line is not the same as the monday night finish I believe, it's more or less at the start.

Position coming into the final downhill crucial I expect.

Finishes at the end of the school furthest away from the village.
Fast and technical i suppose would describe it.

I hope it doesn't rain this year as last year was a disaster, the roads were like a skating rink!

It wasn't just the rain that caused that problem. If you remember there was a charity combine event on the day before last yr,and the road was covered in muck. Then the combination of muck and rain caused the problem.Forecast not too bad but if it does rain its no more dodgy than any other circuit. All junctions are being swept on Saturday also.NO COMBINE EVENT this year, just pure bike racing.

That's a relief, as I wouldn't rule out rain at the moment.

My participation on sunday is still unknown, for non-cycling reasons. I really hope to make it as this is a terrific circuit to race on and the monday night league has been really good. Lots of up-and-down and while the drags may not be long they just keep coming, sapping the legs over time. 'Twill be a good 'un.

Thanks a million Drogheda Wheelers. Practically a closed circuit made for great racing. Was just happy not to get dropped and make it to the finish.

Great race, fair play to all involved!

I got in a break of (i think) eight going into the 3rd lap (again, I think), stayed away for almost 3 laps before the bunch which had now been caught by A1/2's caught us. Managed to hang on after that, but my usual problems with positioning meant that I didn't even see the break of the day going until it was too late. Very debatable whether I would have been able to get into it as I was suffering a bit from my earlier efforts. Sat up coming into the finish as there was no point (i thought) in sprinting for 20th or whatever it was. 3rd and 4th unplaced A3 came from the group I was in, so a little annoyed I didn't put up a fight. Was sitting 4th wheel coming down the hill the last time and felt alright. Ah well, another lesson learned!

Thanks Wav1 and all involved. Nice course, very little traffic, safe corners, A4 felt pretty fast, dropped halfway around, but it looked like only about half the bunch finished, nice to be able to stay back and watch the other races after mine.
