The fact that you said tighter leads me to believe that you use a zero all over?! If that's I would recommend these http://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=wahl+trimmers&_pgn=2&_skc=50&rt=nc. They give a tight cut and are the one's used in salons and have a pair myself. The ones in the first link posted by Tigger look similar but I can't comment on those as I've never used them or seen them before. The ones I linked can only be bought online or in hairdressing supply shops.

However, for a much tighter look I would recommend you a pair of trimmers/detailer's...basically the closest you can get without actually shaving your head. I've had these for a couple years and they're great http://www.ebay.ie/itm/WAHL-Classic-Peanut-Mini-Trimmer-clipper-Made-in-USA-Lightweight-Powerful-/181034311930?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a267c60fa Much closer than regular clippers.

In the end its a matter of how much you want to spend. Tigger is right though, stick to the wahl brand, best you can get over here by a country mile. The ones I linked would be in the mid range, and you could probably get cheaper ones in argos and places like that. I would say that when it comes to clippers the more you spend the better the quality (in general) and the longer they last. Since you'll only be using them for personal use I would suggest sticking with something along the lines of what I have linked above or the ones that Tigger has linked. I was a barber for 9 years and still do it occasionally so if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Been using a 0 for about 10 years, but now i have to do it pretty much each week,so prefer to get it tighter and do it less often.

I go to a barber the odd time and kept meaning to ask what model they use :D

I've been shaving my head since I was 21 (now 38). I've had the same set of Wahl clippers for all this time. I've sent the blades away once during that period to be sharpened.

Don't waste money on anything else, get Wahl.

I'd be shocked if you went into a barbers here and they were using anything but a wahl :) Like I said above, get yourself a pair of trimmers/detailers. They're much closer than the regular clippers as they're used for precise cutting. I'm sure if you asked your barber the same question and specified you wanted a tight zero they'd probably suggest the same thing. Used to always get guys come in asking for us to use them instead regular ones as they noticed the difference. Off the top of my head some of the models:

    Wahl Sterling 2
    Wahl peanut
    Wahl detailer
    Wahl micro trimmer
    Wahl super trimmer

I guess they one problem with them is they're slightly more expensive.

Closest you'll get is a Wahl balding razor

If you're looking to shave that close you may as well wet shave it

Was gonna say that. I went from getting blade 8, to blade 4, to blade 1, then shaving it with a razor on the zero setting, to just wet shaving it.

Now I just wet shave as I'm standing in the shower each morning and it takes two minutes. I never have hair... :)

Do you just use an ordinary Mach 3 type razor, and what about gel? Thinking of going down this route and like the fact it's only two mins a day. Currently using the one in the OP's initial post about every four days but would like tighter now
