Re-jig the borders of Ireland

If you were given unlimited powers yo rearrange the borders and political system of Ireland, what would you do? Here's my ideas

Dublin and Galway would become specially privileged countries with complete power over the rest of the republic

Donegal, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan would be put under permanent military administration and martial law

Limerick would be declared a sort mad max style mans land with a closed border dotted with machine gun nests

All other counties would be merged to a special administrative zone where the constitution suspended but with limited human and political rights still observed at Dublin and Galway's discretion

Oh yeah, Fairview would have a large stockpile of ttactical and strategic nuclear weapons and a massive retaliation policy towards even the mildest percieved provocation

Leitrim could be our legal prostitution / "anything goes" zone, it might actually get people to go there then.

Carlow could be cordoned off and used for nuke testing.

Abolish county councils and replace them with elected county managers, every provence would have an assembly and the dail replaced with a US style president.

Just make the citizens of every county outside of Dublin slaves. And turn Dublin into one big hedonistic state, and let all the slaves do our work and earn are money for us

I would stop RTE transmitting and just start a new channel that shows a collection of Aussie and English soaps, American and English chat shows like Opera and Dr what's his name and Soccer and Rugby.

Give Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick's mayors proper powers, 4 year elected terms and make them a voice for our cities



Then blow up the People's Republic of Cark just for the craic

Cork would become the new capital (obviously).

Dublin would be declared a landfill since it already resembles one and we would allow other countries to export their rubbish there which would be a useful source of income.

Limerick would be fenced off and declared a prison/ battle royale area. Other countries could export their worst criminals there again for a fee and would have to fight and survive in a hunger games/ battle royale type scenario which we could sell tv rights and advertising which would generate further income.

Kerry would also be fenced off and the area subject to nuclear arms testing as well as medical testing on the locals which again generates more income.

Galway and Wexford would be turned into giant tourist traps.

A giant trench about the width and depth of the grand canyon would be dug all around the border with NI which would be filled with water so NI will float off into the Atlantic.

Carlow would be filled with millions of lights and signs so people stop forgetting that its there.

The rest of Leinster will be used to grow and produce food for the country making us self sufficient.

The unused parts of Munster will be used for manufacturing industries except Waterford whose inhabitants will be used to fill all the menial jobs that no-one else wants to do.

Cavan,Monaghan and Donegal would all be heavily armed in case NI comes back.

Make Ireland a Federation with real powers to the governers of each provience.

Engage Northern Ireland instead of ignoring it.

Reduce the number of members in the Dail given that there would now be Governers of each province and reduce the TD's local powers to stop people getting votes based on who fixed the pothole outside the house and get them to have real National agendas like Health, Defense, Foreign Policy and Employment Growth.

Close off Dublin and turn it into a giant prison as in Escape from New York. Well, seeing as it's all junkies and thieves (the dail and bank HQs) there already, all that is needed is to wait for them all to die off and then the rest of the country can live in peace.

declare cork an independent republic

take over a county every week or two to join the corkonian republic until only dublin is left

take over most of dublins suburbs after a year or 2.

eventually leave just all the bank headquarters and the dail as the old republic. this is what will remain of the old ireland thats up to its eyes in debt to the EU. it wont be able to support itself and will have to default on its debts.

the new corkonian republic will be completely debt free, wont bother joining the EU and will disallow itself by constitution to borrow any money from other countries
