    Hi,
I'm taking part in a launch48 startup weekend event. I joined a team that is being led by a cycling enthusiast, I'll be working with him for the weekend.

I was hoping fellow boardsies would have a look at www.bikeexchange.ie and give us some feedback. It is essentially an online platform /information aggregator for buying and selling new & used bikes, initially in Ireland, and then further afield

You can search for a bike, by variables such as Bike Type, Bike Brand, Budget, Frame size etc
He’s loosely basing it on www.bikeexchange.com.au

Do you think there is a need for this type of online marketplace for bikes in Ireland?

We would of course value any feedback you would like to offer.

It would be very beneficial if all the adds were looked over/glanced by someone who has some knowledge of cycling and bikes. It's quite frustrating looking through the various advertising sites when they're all wrongly categorized.. or the list is clogged up with 20 or 30 kids bikes or go carts for every one or two road bikes etc. Just a thought

Thanks everybody for your responses, your feedback is very encouraging. My involvement with the project has finished up, as it was a weekend project for me, the project champion will be going ahead with the idea.

Funnily enough the project champion experienced the exact same frustrations you experienced on other sites, it is one of the first things he mentioned when talking about this project. This is the sort of thing he wants to avoid.

One thing I noticed was that people compared the site to sites such as donedeal. I am curious if people would use this type site to compare what is available at various bike shops before buying a new bike?
