    Hi All,

After looking at games requirements for some new games , Rome 2 ,Dragon Commander,Planetary Annihilation, Recommend specs are Quad Core or I5

I concerned about my options for upgrade

    Current setup
    8GB (2x4GB) Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz CL9 XMP
    P8Z68-V LX,
    Core i3-2120 3.30GHz S1155 3MB
    ATI 6870 1gb
    500 Watt CX500 V2 Builder Series 80
    Samsung ssd 830

Ive seen others mention the Intel Xeon E3-1230 v2 (will this work ok?)

    supported CPUs
    http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z68V_LX/#support_CPU

It says Since Xeon CPU is not desktop CPU model, some feature may not able to work on this combination.?????? wtf

What would you recommend as the best upgrade options for my motherboard?

Im not in a hurry i have no issues playing the current crop of games nicely. Just want to know what to look out for in the future

    thanks for any help

The xeon would be a great choice when not overclocking. There are no issues using it as a desktop processor. It performs the same as an i5 or i7 with the same cores/clocks.

It has hyper threading as well which isn't useful for any current games but should be if games start using more than 4 cores/threads which they should with next gen consoles having 8 core cpu's. Saying that it would be useful in current games that allow cpu physx like Borderlands 2.

Thanks man, If the Xeon is the best option for gaming then I will Keep my eye out for price drops over the next few months

    One more question

If I were to add another 6870 in crossfire with the xeon , would the psu be ok.

    According to

    min 362w Recommend 412W
