Hi, I have just put in a tv in a bedroom its a sony bravia and is one of the older models, it picks up rte 1, rte 2, tv3 etc but only sound no picture, what I am wondering is, what do I need to get to receive picture for these channels, I have a saorview and freesat box connected to one tv and a freesat box connected to another as the other is saorview approved. Thanks for any help.

    A Small MPEG4 H264 HD DVB-T receiver.

    Example.

Or you can get a Saorview box in DID/Power City etc. Bit Dearer - €60.

Heres one in Ireland. Free post.

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/GoClever-DVB-T-200-Compact-MPEG4-Tuner-Receiver-for-Saorview-Plugs-Into-TV-Scart-/251292090699?pt=UK_AudioElectronicsVideo_Video_TelevisionSetTopBoxes&hash=item3a822d014b

Make sure to check with the seller that it clears RTE2HD.

Instead of running the aerial connection into the back of your TV you plug it into the box/device above. That in turn is connected to your TV with a HDMI cable/or scart. (I am presuming that you were running the aerial cable from a point in the wall. ie testing it in the bedroom when you were getting sound no picture on the Bravia)

Ok I haven't a clue about this kind of stuff, maybe the smaller one would suit better as it is wall mounted. Yes its an aerial cable from a point in the wall. Is there a difference is the channels between the two?

I now see the two are small and the box from powercity!

The Saorview Box is obviously bigger and needs a flat surface.

The little scart like little device will plug into the back of the TV as the scart input or the HDMI (and so are handy for wall mounted TV's).

Both come with remote controls. So it will be a question of picking AVI/HDMI on your TV and then the box remote control for switching the channels.

They all receive the same channels.

I think the smaller device might be what I go for then, especially because it is wall mounted. Also out of curiosity, I am currently receiving bbc1, bbc2, and 2 childrens channels, what would be the best way of getting channel 4 and utv also? I'm not too pushed but if I did go down that route?!

You are receiving them as overspill from across the border. You would have to get someone to examine the aerial on your roof to "pull in" the others. Your current aerial may be restricted to certain frequencies and may need to be replaced, have a masthead amp adjusted/fitted etc. Ask your local aerial installer.

The device will also pick up those stations (but not the UK HD ones).

Ah I see! I think I will stick to the small device! Thanks for your help!

Looks like the same unit Tesco were selling, for the same price, prior to analogue switchoff last year.

The Ferguson Ariva T65mini is another unit to consider.

The ferguson seems to be harder to find to buy online but thanks!
