Water Pump Gone

    In my Toyota Avensis, just wondering getting it fixed Monday,


    Is it alright to drive the car on a short journey, or will i do damage ,

    if i fill up with cold water ie then drive and when i see tempature coming up i just stop for a while ?

    With a broken fan you could keep going for quite a distance because the outside air passing through the grill provides some cooling for the water in the radiator. But its not the radiator you need to keep cool; without a pump to pass the cold water through the engine you will overheat, blow the head gasket etc in no time. Gauge can be a help but its not worth the risk relying on it.

    As above, with the water pump not circulating the water, it doesn't matter how much water/coolant you have in it, it won't be doing anything.
