    Hey guys,

    Have samsung galaxy tablet 2 and wanted to watch eastenders and coronation st online but ran into the following problems ;
× rte player needed adobe which my device aparantley doesn't support
× bbc / itv player wasnt compatiable with my location
× tv3 player worked , or so I thought as it only played a 30second ad then nothing.

I tried a few other sites, some didnt work, some didnt have up to date episodes.
Tried youtube, checked about 50 links but they were all under the wrong dates so when I tried to play what was meant to be todays episode it kept being all difgerrnt oldr episodes.

So now am frustrated to say the least! So if anyonen has any ideas, links or advice PLEASE share!

Adobe Flash is not "officially" supported for Android 4.1 and above, and is not available from Play store....

however, this last version from Adobe should work, download link:

    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/android/11.1.115.63/install_flash_player_ics.apk

It's an apk, flash version (11.1.115.63..... which will install as an app, so you will need to allow installation from "unknown sources" in your settings.

I think for your device, go to Settings>Security on your tablet. On the right scroll down to "Unknown sources" and make sure it's checked.

Also, your browser may have settings for flash which you should enable.

For BBC/ITV try VPN, like TunnelBear or Hotspot Shield or Hideman

You also need to consider what browser you are using. Don't use Chrome as that doesn't support Flash. Same for other browsers too.

Personally I use Boat browser. Download it from the Play Store. Or you could use the Samsung stock browser.

I also have a vpn service which has an Android app (as well as working on windows). I can set the exit point to UK or US and use different android apps like the BBC iplayer, ITV player, 4oD etc. The apps work far more seamlessly than Flash imho.

If you want to know more about the vpn service then let me know. It's a paid service but is a small enough yearly fee and has many different uses.

Could you PM me details of that VPN service? Thanks

Dragon browser supports flash again. I'm finding it very good. You have to turn on support within the settings but its all good once you do.

How are you getting past the problem of the BBC Media Player app that needs to be installed before you can watch iPlayer content - my vpn lets me connect using a UK IP address but if I go to play something on the iPlayer I'm told I must first install the Media app from the play store, which then tells me it's not available in "your country"

The British soaps (Eastenders / Coronation Street) all seem to be on Youtube. I don't know if it's legal or not and if it's not I don't know how they stay up. But Youtube works on your Tab without any messing about.

For VPN there's Tunnelbear. I don't know if the performance is good enough for streaming but they give you an account and 500Mb a month for free so you can experiment without paying anything.

Thanks - got it, installed it, doesn't work. I connected to a UK proxy, ran the app and it immediately asks me to "get BBC iPlayer" - which just takes me back to the play store and the old "app not available in your country" routine

Why don't you just use Filmon tv app to watch soaps?
Are you able to watch them live or are you looking for a player?

Many thanks for your assistance Cap'n!

I suppose it would be too much to ask if you can assist with ITVplayer and 4OD?

If you use your vpn and set your exit point as the UK, then the Play Store will think you are in the UK and you'll be able to download all UK specific apps then. It'll ask you to accept the new terms and conditions and then you'll notice all the prices are in £pounds rather than in Euro.

    Great!!!!

Don't forget to tweet TB's message, you get 1GB extra for the month!!!

Also, I think this works, but you can turn off TB, or any VPN, once you have the stream playing, save the Mbytes.....

    you could also explore tunlr.net.....

free, DNS switching service, good for ITV player,[with no VPN]....[If asked, enter ZIP code: EC1V 9FR]

    hulu, etc.....works!!! for me.

use this to change your DNS to tunlr easily, and set up your own....http://download.cnet.com/DnsJUmper/3000-2085_4-75882982.html

edit: BBC live streams works as well....use method below, with tunlr, no vpn necessary:

    best stream.....http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv/bbc_one_london/watchlive
Ok, easiest to use in Chrome, is Modheader I find. Drains least resources as well.
    Here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/modheader/idgpnmonknjnojddfkpgkljpfnnfcklj

    Just add a header Name:”X-Forwarded-For” Value:”212.58.241.131″.
    If needed, filter for *.bbc.co.uk

    That’s all!

How did you get the media player app that you need for iplayer? I tried using a VPN and got the option to download the media player but them Play told me it wasn't available to me.

    what tab?? what Android version?

it should be possible OK, on any Android to change DNS

most of the stuff I posted are for a laptop/PC, including that DNS Jumper app....

but tunlr has stuff for Android too.....here are some general guidelines, but you may need to change for your device,

[let us know what device and Android version]

    http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/291571-setting-up-android-devices
To change DNS settings and connect to our system from Android 2.3 device you can do following:

    1. "Settings"
    2. "Wireless and Networks"
    3. "Wi-Fi settings"
    4. Menu > "Advanced"
    5. Use static IP
    6. Copy current IP address (few lines above) to IP address field
    7. Set Gateway as router IP (usually the same as current IP except last number is .1, i.e. if your phone IP 192.168.2.130 then router's likely 192.168.2.1)
    8. Set Netmask 255.255.255.0 (sometimes it's different, but you should already know what to do if it is)
    9. Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields as per table below:
    DNS 1 208.122.23.22
    DNS 2 208.122.23.23
    10. Menu > "Save"
    11. Restart your phone (power cycle).

Instruction for Android 4.0+ (ICS / Ice Cream Sandwich)

    1. Settings
    2. WiFi (click on word "WiFi", not ON/OFF switch)
    3. Press and hold preferred (or active) wireless network until dialog pops up
    4. Select "Modify Network"
    5. Check "Show advanced options" checkbox at the bottom
    6. Switch "IP settings" to "Static"
    7. Keep IP address, Gateway and Network prefix length the same (should be set from standard DHCP)
    8. Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields as per table above.
    9. "Save"
    10. Restart your phone (power cycle).

    Notes:
      • Most likely it won't work over 3G and connections from public "hot spots" also often restricted
      • Yes, we know that it is possible to make it working through selected 3G providers, but it may require “rooting” or “jailbreaking” of your device. We won’t recommend this for regulr users and won’t support this configuration (i.e. you’re on your own on this road)

There is also this app, never used it, so I dunno, but perhaps it works....

Also another way to watch them would be to download the dailymotion app and search for "Soapalien Atwt" channel. Updated daily too.

It's a Samsung Galaxy tab, model number GT-P5110, Android version 4.1.1 When I click on the Wi-Fi it gives me the option to modify network configuration but there no means of altering the dns setting?

      Hi Captain,

Your knowledge here is tremendous help to me, but unfortunately only came by it today. I have hit the two links for the BBC iplayer (albeit on my PC in work, just testing it) and it's saying incorrect URL. I'm wondering if the links have changed and if you could point me in the right direction for new ones, even just giving me the description to google perhaps? Thanks a million.
