Been a long time since I had an air rifle but the flat heads were only good for rats if I remember correctly. Cant beat the round head ones, better than the pointed ones.

    No!

    Got this off the internet.

Wadcutters are pellets with a flat head that are designed to make a clean round hole in a paper target to aid scoring. For the target shooter, wadcutter pellets are a preferred choice, especially when shooting at closer distances such as 10 or 20 yards. Wadcutters can also be a good choice for hunting and pest control situations because of their excellent impact and limited penetration. All the major pellet manufacturers make one or more pellets of this style. However, they are best used for short distance shooting...10 or 20 yards. Groups will tend to open up at longer distances due to the flat head bucking the wind.

I'm not an air gunner (yet) but I borrowed a mates BSA springer and a tin of flat heads called "vermin pell" wasn't sure what to expect but they had massive killing power and accurate too. Accounted for quite a lot of mags, greys & crows. I've now a deposit on an air rifle to complete my vermin hinting outfit, as a result.

Gas or Spring? :) The domed make a straw like hole through apples put the flat heads just destroy them!Even went through a lynx can and they are pretty tough!Id say they are good on vermin but apparently are good at long range as stability goes!

Air Rifles are great crack silent but deadly :P
