Sun Holiday Destination for Middle Aged

    Hi,
I'm trying to find the perfect sun holiday destination for my Mother and Auntie. Needless to say I'm looking for the opposite of Ibiza. Somewhere that has a distinct lack of teenagers. They have been to Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote twice and absolutely love the place, but they fancy trying somewhere different. Spain and Portugal would be the countries of choice. Somewhere not too far away. Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks! :)

Wouldn't write off Ibiza, its a beautiful island. The nightlife is mostly confined to San Antonio and part of Ibiza town (which is a gorgeous town btw), there are lots of lovely resorts around the island. I speak from a middle aged viewpoint and a recent Ibiza visitor.

I'd agree. You'll find the olds will keep different hours to the party types. Plenty of nice places to go and things to see in almost all the party destinations.

Send them off to the Algarve and they'll be fine. Also agree about the Ibiza comments.

algarve is nice, but agree with the ibiza comments, es cana is in ibiza, its about 25mins away from san antonio, away from all the nightlife, its a really nice place, quite and relaxing

    What age is middle aged?

Early 60's. And thanks for all the replies. I wasn't aware of the other side to Ibiza. I'll definitely look into that.

Ibiza is a stunning island and very beautiful. We have holidayed all over the world and for the past two years have been drawn back to Ibiza. I'm in my fifties and we go to a beautiful resort called Santa Eularia (close to Es Cana). Have been to Lanzarote many times too but Ibiza in my eyes is far more beautiful. Such a pity that some people write it off because of san Antonio !

This thread got me thinking bout Ibiza too. Seems 2/3 spots you might need to know well or avoid parts(?). San Eularia, etc seem quite nice. Would package holiday deals be dodgy for the 'mature' traveller?

Madeira. Was there last summer. Very nice and relaxed and chilled out vibe about it.

Amalfi Coast in Italy is nice, and seems to be quite popular with people in that age group. I also think the Algarve would be a good choice, the towns east of Faro seem to be a bit quieter than the ones west of Faro.
