Gaming PC/HTPC ITX

    Hey all,
I was planning on building a little ITX HTPC to stream/store/download all my media and fit under the telly. After E3 and the subsequent fallout I'm not hugely impressed with the next gen consoles on offer and would rather spend my money on a more fulfilling PC experience.
After a little research I was delighted to see that a powerful desktop can now be stuffed into a tidy little ITX case so you get the power and looks in your living room.
    Great!

So I was wondering if someone could have a look over my specs and see if there are any suggestions. My main thing is, I'd like it to be able to play games at full settings on a 1080p screen and also have components that will let me upgrade over time or at least not cost too much now if I want to upgrade at a later date. Obviously not blowing a ton of cash on a machine at this point would be great, around the 700-800 mark would be ideal, if less than that then brilliant!

I don't do any sort of video editing or whatever and it'll mostly be for either gaming/watching movies/music. I produce music on my laptop and that's doing the trick so I'll keep that task there.

Oh and I don't really want to bother with overclocking, I believe that the gains for gaming aren't huge so I'd rather not burn out my components.

    Item|Price
WD Caviar Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s|€82.94
    SanDisk SSD 128GB S-ATA 600|€78.61
    Intel Core i5-3350P Box, LGA1155|€155.08
    8GB Corsair ValueSelect PC3-10667U CL9-9-9-24|€53.54
    Fractal Degisn Node 304|€64.88
    Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 OC|€176.64
    Corsair VS Serie VS350, Non-Modular, 80+|€29.01
    ASRock H77M-ITX, Sockel 1155, ITX|€83.06

    Total|€723.76

I'm factoring another E100 for Windows/Keyboard and mouse or anything else like that.

    Thanks for having a look!

Looks nice. If you go ahead with this build , Will you please post how you get on with the PSU and Case. My biggest concern with a htpc is noise levels. Nothing worse than listening to a fan whirring during a quite part of a film.

If not overclocking there is no reason why it shouldn't be virtually silent.

The only thing that might not be in the above build is the stock cooler on the 3330 but I would say it should be ok.

Having looked over it, the graphics card won't fit in the case. Either a different GPU or case it seems!

    EDIT: This should fit instead..

    Why wouldn't it?

That's a CX430 in there, which is slightly longer than the VS350 you have. What makes you think the GPU won't fit?

States that Graphics Cards over 170mm can conflict with PSU's, but if I go for a small form PSU at 100mm it should fit.

They only conflict with PSUs longer than 160mm. My 600W unit is 160mm, so your 350W one will definitely fit. It's probably 140-150mm.

Edit: Yup, Corsair says it's 140. You're grand.

Thanks, I think I'll go for the smaller psu in any case since it's non modular and there'll be cables everywhere.
