Rules around letting grassland

    Hello,

Can someone tell me, or point me in the right direction for the rules around letting grassland.

I always have too much grass during the summer, so I want to let some of it to a neighbour for grazing cattle, as much to keep on top of the grass, as anything else.

Just wondering what the rules are, in terms of

    1) Animal movements (I know nothing about cattle)
I think there is some movement form which needs to be filled up (I think I actually found this out last year, but cant find the info now) :(

    2) SFP
I assume this doesn't have any effect on my SFP? The animals would only be here for prob ~2 months or so. Is there a time limit I need to be aware of here?

    Thanks.

    Hi Kowtow,

    Are you in West Cork?

I have a similiar issue to you actually on some of my place. I sold silage last year - but on land that is very hilly, and sure they couldn't cut it without 2-3 good days before hand... :o:(
Which meant last year, it was very late by the time it got cut...

Not sure I want to go down the silage route. I would say that some of my grassland would need reseeding to make good silage.
Also - I don't have access to slurry, which IMO would be needed if you were to sell silage.
