I just wanted to highlight this to people. €380,000 Joe Duffy gets for this shíte.

For anyone who hasn't endured it before.

So far there was a distasteful comment on Polish immigrants and now they are after playing Deutschland Über Alles again.

How much does this muck cost to broadcast

Didn't realise that listening to JD was compulsory, maybe you should just change stations.

I think its gas how they always include a racist OAP who doesnt think they are racist and who thinks they are PC, by talking a certain group of people who are from eastern europe and are Gypsies. But doesnt say what they are called but everyone knows who she/he is talking about. Or some telling a highly racist or streotypical "joke" that isnt funny. But yet Joe never says anything.

Its get to see our licence fee goes to quality broadcasting and something which we cant live without. Not

Euro 1,583 per programme, just on Joe's wages, then you have the "Production Team" that would cost roughly the same again.
A guess of 3k per programme wouldn't be far off.

You actually listen to it? I thought people who actually listened to Duffy were mythical, like unicorns and money.

    Moncrieff ftw!!!

I just wish half of us on here would complain.

There was a thread in the TV forum (I think) campaigning against the "psychics" on TV3 and they sucessfully shut them down.

Wouldn't it be brilliant if there was a sub-forum (or something) on boards that channelled all this legitimate critiscism into action?

You can tell him yourself if you bring your sweet lips a little closer to the phone.

He had a few complaints upheld against him by the BAI today

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2013/0627/459233-bai-upholds-two-compaints-against-rtes-liveline/

That's the best chance of getting Liveline closed down, if he continues to have biased discussions. RTE will indulge Duffy with his occasional "Funny Friday" as long as he pulls in big listener numbers.

Personally, I've no idea why anyone listens to that programme anymore. It's like aural sewage

Some one should ring Joe Duffy about this, it's a travesty.

They would probably just spin it around and release a statement saying that Joe's show attracts x number of listeners each day and that he won't give in to the spiteful, faceless internet bullies.

That's very true. Maybe if we showed them that we all have faces?

    I have a face.

That guy doing the spoof song "they picked it out of their arse" was truly shameful.Whats was worse was when he kept trying to get the crowd to join in and "sing along" and a few couldn't help themselves.John Bowe listening in to that would have crying with laughter.

Let's put it this way, you don't see 'RTE' and 'funny' very often in the one sentence.

Joe's move from early week misery, sighing and a listening ear for cranks, to the wet-your-pants hilarity of Funny Friday marks him out as a broadcaster of extraordinary depth and talent.

I only started the thread because I wanted to highlight this ridiculous waste of money to some people who may never have heard it before. I turned it off after ten minutes. It's just such a ridiculous way to spend the license fee.
