    Hello, everyone!

So, I have a German friend who wants to come over to study here,
she meets all the qualifications - matriculation, TOEFL, etc,
but she would need some financial assistance.

Rather than me running all over the place and probably sending unecessary emails, I was wondering if any of you know if it's possible for her to get a grant or something similar to come and study here?

    Thanks in advance!
    Ronan.

Nope, unless she could get any grants in her home country. You have to be living in Ireland for 3 of the last 5 years to qualify for a grant.

I thought it was you have to be in an EU member country for the past 5 years....

    Try the DAAD https://www.daad.de/en/index.html

They provide scholarships for foreign students studying in Germany and for Germans studying abroad.

No, to qualify for a student grant she would have to satisfy all the relevant criteria which are:
    1) Be an Irish/EU Citizen
    2) Be resident within Ireland for 3 of the last 5 years
    3) Demonstrate that she falls below the income threshold to qualify for a grant.
If she also already has a degree then she would not qualify either.

    That's for "free" fees, no?
If she's been resident of an EU country for 3 of the last 5 years, she'll have to pay the contribution €2500 (or whatever it goes up to this year) but not the rest of the fees.

I don't think she'll get a grant from the Irish authorities though.
