    Hi all
I studied leaving cert biology about 15 years ago and really enjoyed it. Two areas of the course were pretty much skipped over in class due to time constraints, ecology and evolution and i'd like to learn a little about them. Can anyone recommend any books on these areas probably popular science type books that i could read to get an idea of these subjects.

    Mick.

When I did my undergrad degree I had module specifically for evolution. To study for my exam in the module I went over the notes and I read the selfish gene by Dawkins and I did well in it. I think some prior reading could be necessary though, Dawkins is a bit wordy sometimes and it focuses on evolution at a genetic level. There is an evolution for dummies book I don't know how good it is though.

I was never mad into ecology so i'm no help there.

    I hope this helps.
