Wipers squeaking

Just put new wipers on as the older ones were showing their age and making an awful squeaking noise when it would rain. However the newer ones are still squeaking too but this time just as bad.

On the windscreen there seems to be streaks that are stained into the window going in the direction of the wiper movement, like as if somebody once let the wipers get so bad that metal was rubbing of the windscreen.

It is possible to buff these out or any other ideas ?

Are the wiper flat type or with metal holders? Flats can squeak a bit more in my experience.
    What brand did you get?

I don't know tbh, their the Halford brand though. The old ones did it as well though which makes me think it is cause the windscreen is scratched.

Scratches on a windscreen can be gotten out using a D/A, cerium oxide and a rayon pad. I got very, very bad scratches out of my own windscreen (caused by the previous owner who used the wipers one day and dragged grit across the windscreen and never bother to clean it) using CeriGlass and a rayon pad from CleanCar.

Also, with regard to your squeaking wipers, it may not just be the scratches on the screen but I apply THIS to customers' wipers and to my own and it works a treat to make the rubber softer and glide across the glass.

If you wanted a more permanent solution, you could apply Gtechniq ClearVision Smart Glass to your windows and windscreen. This makes water bead and run off the glass immediately. At motorway speeds, it almost negates the need for wipers!

Thanks for that, wouldn't mind explaining what D/A means ? And where I would pick up cerium oxide and a rayon pad ?

A D/A is a dual action polisher, used for paint correction on cars. The rayon pad fits onto this instead of the usual hexlogic cutting pads.

The CERIGLASS kit has blocks that you use by hand but they won't be much use in getting out deep scratches.
