    7.40 Leicester

    Tevez 25/1

Des Donovan's 8 year old definitely has to bounce back in quite a big way from 3 very poor starts this year but this very well handicapped animal takes a drop in grade here off a mark of 69 and given that he returns to a venue where has 3 wins from 4 starts I'm hopeful that he can rediscover his form tonight. A horse who really took off for his current trainer when joining him back in 2009, Tevez reached a peak rating of 89 after winning comfortably over 7f at Leicester off a mark of 81 back in July 2011 which was his last victory. Although winless in nearly 2 years, he ran a lot of fine races in defeat including on his last couple of starts for Donovan off marks of 81 in June last year. He then moved over to Ireland for one start with Sharon Dunphy where he stayed on nicely enough from off the pace in November before then joining John Butler where he was last of 8 back in March. After a sole run for both those trainers, he was reunited with Des Donovan who clearly gets the best out of him and although he has been very poor in 2 starts since rejoining his trainer he has fallen 7lb in 2 runs (10lb in 3 runs this year) to a mark of 69 which makes him look very well handicapped. I'm hoping the return to Leicester helps spark a return to form where he clearly goes very well and I think it's potentially significant that the return to Leicester coincides with a drop in grade. Although todays 10f trip is a bit of an unknown, he hasn't looked like he was fading at the finish over similar trips on the AW and given that there doesn't really look like a pace angle in the race Tevez's speed may come into effect. Tom Queally maintains his partnership tonight having had his first ride on Tevez LTO. He's got to bounce back in a big way but 25/1 about a horse who is well handicapped and goes extremely at the track looks too big and although he could easily finish out with the washing if putting his best foot forward he could take a lot of beating in this.

Out with the washing. Seems to have completely lost his way.
