    Hey all,

Girlfriend has a 2001 (possibly 02) 3 door Fiat Punto. Hasn't been driven a whole lot in the past few months, so has been nearly permanently parked outside her parent's house. Because of this, a neighbour has now offered her €400 for the car.

    Details:
    3 door car
    1.2l engine
In need of at least 2 tyres
Not taxed (for a few months)
    Not NCT'd (since April)
    Original timing belt (we think)
Internal fan blows cold air only

The plan had been to leave car off road until around Christmas (she'll need a car for work then), but she's thinking she'll take the money and then pick up something cheap courtesy of credit union in December instead.

I know nothing about buying/selling cars, but I am assuming this dude is buying car for parts - is this a fair price?

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah , given the age , timing belt , no tax, NCT and that it has been sitting up and the way the market is right now €400 is a good price. If she was to actively sell it and put it up for €500, you'd maybe get €350 - €400 at best.

Make sure she posts off the VLC/VRC to Shannon as soon as the money is in her hands.

I'd take the money it could be very expensive to make it road worthy again come Christmas.

I was once offered €150 to TAKE a Punto off a guys hands. I think you're doing well to get 400 for a Punto that needs quite a bit of work. Needless to say, I declined.

Could have made a handy €200+ on that deal. Get €150 to take it away and easily over €70 for scrap value.
